Zika Virus Infection
Zika fever is an illness caused by the Zika virus
Transmission is via the bite of mosquitoes in tropical regions. Like other flaviviruses it could potentially be transmitted by blood transfusion. There have also been confirmed reports of cases of sexual transmission and two of vertical perinatal transmission.
Because of the "growing evidence of a link between Zika and microcephaly" the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel alert on January 15, 2016 advising pregnant women to consider postponing travel. The agency also suggested that women thinking about becoming pregnant should consult with their physicians before traveling.

Fraud health insurance providers
Published on Jun 17, 2017

Failon Ngayon tackles the issue with fraud health insurance providers and how the Insurance Commission is addressing it.

The CCT program
'Conditional cash transfers (CCT) are a stepping stone to universal health coverage, not just help for individual families'. CCT program gives cash transfers to poor families, provided, among other things, that pregnant household members seek antenatal care and a health professional delivers the baby. It requires that children aged 5 years and younger are immunized and monitored in case of malnutrition, and that children aged 6 to 14 are dewormed twice a year. More than just granting cash, the program intends to break the vicious intergenerational nature of poverty.

Piercing is one of the most prevalent form of body art and self-expression. But body piercing should not be a frivolous, spur-of-the-moment act. Why? It's a surgical procedure that is frequently carried out in beauty salons or tattoo/piercing parlors that are completely unregulated. Worse yet, body parts are also pierced at concerts and in people's garages, basements and bathrooms.
