The reason parents should let their children get dirty
by Rappler in Partnership with Breeze Philippines July 06, 2016
‘It’s easier to wash away stains than it is to bring up a good child’
Children are crafty creatures. One minute they’re clean, but take your eyes off them for just a second and you’ll find them covered in mystery muck the next.
But while it’s alarming to find your child caked in who-knows-what, believe it or not, it’s actually important for them to do so. Not just because it beefs up their immune system, but also because behind every scraped knee and stained white tee is a discovery.

Zika fever is an illness caused by the Zika virus
Transmission is via the bite of mosquitoes in tropical regions. Like other flaviviruses it could potentially be transmitted by blood transfusion. There have also been confirmed reports of cases of sexual transmission and two of vertical perinatal transmission.
Because of the "growing evidence of a link between Zika and microcephaly" the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued a travel alert on January 15, 2016 advising pregnant women to consider postponing travel. The Veterans Memorial Medical Center

formerly known as Veterans Memorial Hospital was established in 1955 with full US government assistance under the US Veterans Administration to provide quality hospitalization, medical care and treatment to Filipino veterans as provided by U.S. public law. The patients were originally those who suffer from service-connected disabilities arising from their services with the USAFFE, recognized guerrilla units, Philippine Scouts, and Philippine Commonwealth Army.

Hospitalization is extended to veterans of World War II and their dependents under the RP program. With the passing of RA 6948, AFP retirees and their dependents are extended benefits of the Public Law.
