She was one of the three resource persons during the PIA Communication and News Exchange Forum (CNEX)

Overseas Filipino Workers OFW

The exit clearance come in the form of an E-Receipt (electronic receipt) or an Overseas Employemnt Certificate (OEC) certifying to the regularity of a workers recruitment and documentation and ensures exemption from travel tax and airport terminal fee. It is presented at the POEA Labor Asistance Center (LAC) and the Bureau of Immigration (BI) counter at the airports, prior to departure.

The E-Recipt or OEC serves as the worker's guarantee that he/she is covered by government protection and benefits.

Hidaya, Nohman, and Vicky participated in a week-long workshop at the Ateneo De Manila University in Quezon City to become youth ambassadors in their own communities and help end exploitation and trafficking. The workshop is produced by the MTV Exit campaign with assistance from USAID, AusAID, and the Visayan Forum Foundation.

MANILA, Philippines, April 5, 2011 -- The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Government of the Philippines today launched a US$250,000 major project wholly funded by Western Union to harness the power of remittances from migrant workers to drive sustainable economic development in the Philippines

Au Pair programs are banned by the Philippines Department of Foreign Affairs. But some still manage to join these programs and end up working illegally abroad.

We take a closer look at the lives of au pairs. Au Pairs normally stay with a host family in a foreign country to learn about language and culture, while helping with daily chores. But for some Filipinos, au pair programs become opportunities to become undocumented domestic workers. The death penalty of Sarah Balabagan triggered this Canadian documentary, shown on Dutch tv, about Filipino overseas workers and the allegedly inhumane, abusive, and exploitive working conditions tsome face in especially the United Arab Emirates and other country's around the world. Sarah Balabagan (born August 16, 1979) (her family name is phonetically pronounced as Ba-la-BAH-gan) was a Filipina prisoner in the United Arab Emirates during 1994 - 96 whose case caused a good deal of controversy.
